While the turkey was in the oven today, I was able to digitize a few more records. I should be able to keep these posts coming!

Today I have Art Linkletter’s House Party from May 21, 1947. The Wikipedia entry for the program is rather sparse, but says that it was on CBS radio from 1945 to 1967, and on TV from 1952 to 1969. It’s a 30-minute show.

I’m not going to say anything more about it except enjoy! :)

Wow, this is real treasure, Lisa. There’s only one other episode of this radio show in circulation.

  2. Lisa says:

I think I have at least one more episode. I’m not sure if it’s partial or complete, though.

  3. Cathy L says:

Thanks for this! I’ve been looking for Art’s radio programs. What a delight.

I have been in this wonderful broadcasting business for over 50 years, retired as GM and morning host on WHCU AM & FM
here in Ithaca NY in 1988. (see my web site for more info: rudyonduty.com)

What a wonderful service you provide. I remember the House Party carried on WHCU, the CBS affiliate here.
I’m anxious to listen to more of your collections.

Ah yes, the fragile glass base 16″ ET’s. Recorded outside in for the first 15 minutes, then inside out for the next
15 minutes so quality remains the same. The cutting needle shaving grooves in the blank disk, sometimes getting
jammed….no editing either….those were the days.

    Love to hear from you.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks. All of my 16″ discs are recorded from the inside-out, with each side lasting 15 minutes (at 33rpm). They certainly are fragile! Even the aluminum-based ones; although they don’t break, they do oxidize and de-laminate.
